R. 24 LGI/IT in-person recertification – March 2024

Course Description

This course is for currently certified (or expired less than one year) American Red Cross lifeguard instructors and lifeguard instructor trainers only.

The purpose of the Lifeguarding Instructor/Instructor Trainer Recertification course is to give instructors and instructor trainers the opportunity to review the course knowledge and skills within a formal course setting in order to maintain their American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor or Instructor Trainer certification.

Successfully completing this course is the only method for maintaining certification as an American Red Cross Lifeguarding instructor or instructor trainer.

Lifeguard Instructors and Instructor Trainers are required to take this review class every two years in order to maintain their LGI/LGIT certification.  You are required to pre-register for this course and complete your online update before you take the in-person review class.

A participant level certification is not required to maintain your LGI/IT certification, however, there is an optional test out session that can immediately follow the review course.  Anyone wishing to do the optional test out session should plan on staying a few hours past the course end time and paying an additional $85 fee.

Options available:

  • Lifeguard certification test out session, $85 per participant
  • Limited Edition LGI/IT recertification course option available for LGIs who have expired within one year
