This course will train instructor candidates to teach basic-level American Red Cross Lifeguarding, Lifeguarding Blended Learning, Shallow Water Lifeguarding, Aquatic Attraction Lifeguarding, Waterpark Skills, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Bloodborne Pathogens Training.

To participate in this instructor course, you must be at least 17 years of age on or before the last day of the instructor course and submit proof a current American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED For the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certificate. This is a blended learning course consisting of online content, a skills session and classroom/water segments. Online material must be completed prior to the first day of class.

This three day course requires pre-registration and there is online work that must be completed prior to the first day. Proof of a current American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED For the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certification is required at the time of registration.

This course is not designed to teach you lifeguarding skills. You are expected to come to class with a strong understanding of the lifeguard program and be able to perform the lifeguarding skills to the standard. You can find information on the r.17 lifeguarding program here.
